Twins In Tow

Motherhood In a Mountain Town

Looking Forward to the New Year

So much to say and so little time to write! We are still struggling through a nasty tummy virus that has us in its spell.  It is NO fun to spend the holidays feeling crummy but sadly that is pretty much what happened this year.

The new toboggan sits unused and patiently waiting for us to hop on it and fly away, grinning in the fresh snow but it will have to wait.

It hasn’t just been just the sicknesses, it has also been raining here which puts a horrible damper on things!

It seems like we got through the boy’s birthday and whammo everyone came down with something. The boys had bad colds and in one case it got pretty severe. Severe enough to land us in the ER on the nebulizer a few times and then right after recovering from the cold and its coughing, wheezing, sneezing, runny nose and fever, this tummy thing started and that one continues to have us in its grip.

Plainly, our house smells like a college dorm after a keg party and it feels like I am continually running a continuous sanitize cycle on the clothes washer. The food expulsion episodes have become so frequent I have had enough time to come up with a system. I won”t bore you with the details but anyone who knows me knows, I always need a system! Even for food expulsion…

No joke – look at it this way. What do you do with the kasyna polska twin who is not sick who is now terribly interested in what just projectiled (yes I know that is not a real word) from his brothers mouth? When you really need to deal with the sick one who also just happens to be covered in vomit, the first order of business is to deposit the soiled twin someplace safe, non-carpeted and preferably not furnished in leather. That leaves Curious George to his own devices and even for an instant, the next thing you know you are bathing two babies instead of just one!

Needless to say, celebrations have been rather low key this year. I am definitely looking forward to the New Year. Since we will not be joining in any celebrations out there in the real world and will be hunkered down here in our little cabin in the woods, I will take this opportunity to say:

Happy New Year everyone! Love you all.

  1. Nothing worse than the tummy flu, especially over the Holidays! I hope it runs it’s course quickly and happy, smiley faces return to your little cabin in the woods!

I wish you all a very HEALTHY and HAPPY New Year!

  2. It gets better all the time! (i mean the writing).. Not necessarily the actual event re one projectile, one curious geotge and the resulting two to bathe.. :-).

  3. Fantastic! Your story about 2011 left tears in my eyes.. Tears of happiness for you, and sadness for the fact that so often during your wonderful year of happiness I was not there for you to share your joy.
